NOV 1625-UDBE drawworks

NOV / National · Listed under Drawworks

What it does

The 1625-UDBE is a 3,000 horsepower chain-drive drawworks with a disc brake. It is a common hoist on larger land rigs and on some platform rigs that still run DC drawworks. Low gear is for pulling. High gear is for moving the empty block faster.

Which rig it fits

Shop this when the rig is a 3,000 horsepower class hoist, above a 1320 and below a 2040. NOV’s table lists 625 tons with 12 lines in low gear, 537.5 tons with 10 lines in that gear, and 175 tons with 12 lines in high gear. Three DC motors is a frequent way these were built. Motor count is nameplate data. The horsepower cell does not promise three motors.

How to tell it apart

A 1320-UDBE is 2,000 horsepower. A 2040-UDBE is 4,000, and the long-drum version of that one is the UDBEL. The 1625 name is the model, not a drum measurement you can take with a tape and assume.

What to check before you buy

Count the motors and read each motor nameplate. Inspect the disc stack and ask if the auxiliary brake is in the sale. Then match the hook-load column to the number of lines on the mast you plan to put it under.

Sellers list what they have, so this exact model is not always up. Drawworks is where that kind of equipment is listed.
