NOV 110-UDBE drawworks

NOV / National · Listed under Drawworks

What it does

UDBE means universal disc-brake electric. The 110-UDBE is the disc-brake version of the 1,500 horsepower 110. It does the same hoisting job as the 110-UE. The main brake is a disc instead of bands.

Which rig it fits

It fits the same class of land rig as the 110-UE. Published hook load with 10 lines in low gear is 302.5 tons, and with 12 lines it is 355 tons. People shop the UDBE when they want the disc brake for the way it holds and releases the load, or because their spare parts are already disc-brake parts.

How to tell it apart

If the skid has bands, it is not a UDBE, whatever the listing title says. The 110-UE is the band-brake twin. Larger disc-brake drawworks in this catalog are the 1320 at 2,000 horsepower, the 1625 at 3,000, and the 2040 at 4,000. The auxiliary brake, often a Baylor eddy-current brake, is still a separate unit.

What to check before you buy

Inspect the discs and calipers, not just the horsepower plate. Ask which auxiliary brake is on the skid, and whether the DC motors are included. A disc-brake drawworks without its auxiliary is a different machine from the one the rig was designed around.

Sellers list what they have, so this exact model is not always up. Drawworks is where that kind of equipment is listed.
