Cameron Type U II ram BOP
What it does
The Type U II is a later Cameron ram preventer. It closes pipe rams, blind rams, or shear rams the same way a Type U does. Cameron’s parts chart lists it separately from the U and from the lighter TL. The letters are the body family. They are not a pressure rating.
Which rig it fits
It fits the stack only when the bore and working pressure stamped on the body match the well and the flange below it. Do not infer either number from “U II.” The chart says pipe rams, variable-bore rams, and shearing blind rams are available. Grip-and-seal rams and super-shear casing rams are not listed for this column.
How to tell it apart
A Type U is the earlier, more common body. A TL is the lighter land preventer, and Cameron’s chart marks super-shear casing rams as available for the TL/T column and not for the U II. Ram part numbers follow the body. A U ram will not fix a U II, and a U II ram will not fix a TL.
What to check before you buy
Read bore and working pressure on the body, then list the rams in each cavity. Ask for H2S-service rams if the field needs them. Cameron lists those as available, not as installed in every preventer. Confirm the closing-unit volume against this body before you put it under an existing accumulator.
Sellers list what they have, so this exact model is not always up. BOPs & Well Control is where that kind of equipment is listed.
