Cameron Type TL ram BOP
What it does
The TL is Cameron’s lighter ram preventer for land rigs. It still closes rams on the wellbore. Cameron’s parts chart groups the TL with the T, separate from the Type U. People choose it when stack weight and height matter and the bore and pressure are within what that body is stamped for.
Which rig it fits
It fits a land stack that was built around a TL, not a stack that was built around a Type U of the same bore. The chart lists pipe rams and variable-bore rams, shearing blind rams in some sizes, and super-shear casing rams for the TL/T column. The pressure rating is on the nameplate. “TL” does not mean 5,000 psi or 10,000 psi.
How to tell it apart
A Type U of the same bore is a heavier body with different bonnets and different ram part numbers. A Type U II is different again, and super-shear casing rams are not listed for it. An annular on top of the TL is a separate preventer. The TL does not do the annular’s job.
What to check before you buy
Get bore, working pressure, and cavity count. Confirm the rams installed, including whether a shear ram is actually in the cavity or only available as a part. Ram wear pads are standard on this chart. H2S rams are available and may not be what is in the preventer today.
Sellers list what they have, so this exact model is not always up. BOPs & Well Control is where that kind of equipment is listed.
