Brandt King Cobra Venom shale shaker
What it does
The King Cobra Venom is a fine-screen shaker for the flow line. Cuttings come off the screens before the mud reaches the desander, desilter, and centrifuge. NOV offers it in linear motion or tuned elliptical motion. Four Contour Plus screens sit at 0 degrees on the feed panel and +5 degrees on the other three.
Which rig it fits
This is the higher-capacity land shaker in the Brandt set on this list. Deck area is 33.4 square feet. Nominal G-force is 8.3, and Constant-G control holds about 7.3 to 8.3 G as the mud load changes, so the screens keep working when a connection or a fast drilling break dumps more cuttings. Weir height is 34.5 inches. Two 3.5 horsepower motors drive it. Weight is about 4,500 pounds.
How to tell it apart
A Mini Cobra is the smaller land and workover shaker: less deck, a 24-inch weir, and 6.6 G. A VSM 300 is the three-deck elliptical machine with a fixed angle and a taller weir. Venom screens fit Cobra and King Cobra baskets. They do not fit a VSM 300.
What to check before you buy
Confirm whether you are getting linear motion, tuned elliptical, or both, and that the pneumatic basket adjustment still moves from −2 to +2 degrees. Ask for the screens. Also confirm Constant-G is on this unit. A basket running at a fixed G without that control is not the machine the brochure describes.
Sellers list what they have, so this exact model is not always up. Mud Systems & Tanks is where that kind of equipment is listed.
